Building Drafter (roof truss division) – Vallée‑Jonction | Full‑time position (39 hours per week)

 

As a Building Drafter (roof truss division), you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your technical knowledge and drawing skills and contribute to the team’s success.

Specifically, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Design the roof structure of buildings using specialized software from architectural plans valid for execution, optimize them and prepare shop drawings for production;
  • Prepare sawing files, cutting lists and any other documents required for factory production;
  • Request seals for roof trusses according to established procedure;
  • Use add‑on software (as required) to design the structural elements under consideration, i.e. roof beams, floor beams and joists, lintels, columns and exterior walls, related to the house structure to allow loads to be distributed down to the ground (Woodwork Sizer, Forte, etc.);
  • Ensure that the building structure is free of defects in roofs, floors and any lintels or columns included in the project;
  • Coordinate work with the technical department – working drawings;
  • If necessary, provide support to plant employees in case of questions;
  • Participate in the resolution of after‑sales service problems when necessary;
  • Actively participate in problem‑solving from design to assembly line;
  • Prepare truss installation drawings using REVIT;
  • Perform any other related tasks to assist the technical department.

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Ability to visualize the path of loads through the building structure and its distribution among the various elements;
  • Understand the concepts of support crushing, bending, compression and tension;
  • Understand the criticality of one structural element in relation to another;
  • Recognize the need to refer to your immediate superior to resolve a problem;
  • Good knowledge of REVIT software required;
  • Knowledge of Mitek’s Sapphire software (an asset).
